Verizon will charge an extra $10 per month for smartphone users to access its 5G network.
It’s the first time a major communications company unveiled pricing for what experts say will be a faster service plan.
The service carrier is launching its 5G network for its mobile users in Chicago and Minneapolis on April 11.

Verizon announced Wednesday that it will hike prices on its plans, but also give customers about 30% more data. For instance, the price of the low-end “S” plan will increase by $5 to $35 a month, but will now include two gigabytes of data, double the amount it offered before.

In addition to these mobile markets, Verizon will expand coverage for 5G Home, the world’s first 5G-powered residential broadband service. Residents in parts of Houston, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Indianapolis can currently order the service, and Verizon will expand its 5G Home markets in the second half of 2019.
