Sky confirms no satellite dish required from late 2018.
The new plans will see the latest Sky Q TV service made available to customers without the installation of a satellite dish, with programmes instead delivered over broadband to a new set-top box.
Does Sky q need a different dish?
Sky Q & Sky Off Same Satellite Dish – Including Freesat
To run Sky Q and normal Sky or Freesat at the same time off a satellite dish. You will need to instead of installing a wideband LNB, install a Hybrid LNB instead. There are couple different makes and models but essentially, they have the same final result.
Does Sky installation include dish?
If you get Sky installed, an engineer will visit your house and fit a satellite dish to the outside of your property – it will need to be pointing South East. Sky will also connect their set-top box to your TV. The set-top box also needs to be connected to a telephone line. Sky will sort this out for you.
Does Sky q use the same cables?
This isn’t the case with the Sky Q box as it needs two satellite cables connected to a wideband LNB. This is because the two signals are not identical like with Sky+ and Freesat+. But like I already said it is possible to Sky Q on one cable with no loss of services using dSCR technology.
