The National Broadband Network will be installed at your home free of charge. However, you will have to pay for an NBN plan to cover your monthly usage.

Switching to the NBN is not automatic—there are steps you need to take. Once NBN Co has announced that your area is NBN-ready, you may have up to 18 months to move your phone and internet services. You must contact your preferred service provider to move to the NBN.
How soon do I have to connect to NBN?
